On Tuesday, June 17, 2025، the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies hosted an online panel discussion, entitled “Transformations in the Syrian Landscape: Factors Behind the Fall of the Assad Regime and the Challenges of Rebuilding a New Syria.” The session featured Dr. Ammar Kahf, Executive Director of the Omran Center for Strategic Studies in Damascus, and Dr. Nasser Al-Marri, Professor of Political Science at King Saud University. It was moderated by Dr. Mansour Almarzouqi, Head of the Political and Security Program at the Center. Speakers emphasized Saudi Arabia’s active role in supporting Syria’s reconstruction, revitalizing institutions, fostering a viable investment climate, and backing the safe and voluntary return of refugees. They affirmed that the Kingdom has never abandoned its responsibility toward the Syrian people, offering political, economic, and security support to help them navigate the transitional phase. Speakers also highlighted that regional stability and prosperity are deeply intertwined with Saudi Arabia’s own development and well-being. They concluded that the Kingdom’s support for Syria is part of a comprehensive strategic and developmental vision—not just a reaction to a passing crisis.
