Lebanon At A Cross Road

 On October 17th 2019, the Lebanese took to the street protesting a move against corruption, the declining socioeconomic situation, and the waning political system. The protestors’ demands ranged over a social and economic spectra. The demands were a representation of a deep structural distrust of the system both economic and political. All indicators suggest a forthcoming collapse of the economy. The manifestations resulted in the government’s resignation.  This article will provide a background to the situation in lebanon during the last three months, an overview to the economic decline and its drivers, the political setting and its regional ramifications.
