On Monday, January 17, 2022, the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) and the REF-ARAB Project at University of Oslo co-convened an online panel discussion entitled "The Right to Asylum in International Refugee Law and Islamic Law: Theory and Practice.” The opening remarks were given by Ambassador Khaled Khalifa, Representative of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to States of Gulf Cooperation. Three speakers joined the discussion: Dr. Charlotte Lysa (Post-Doctoral Researcher, University of Oslo; Visiting Fellow, King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies), Dr. Mesfer Al-Ghahtani (Professor, Department of Islamic and Arabic Studies, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals), and Dr. Dallal Stevens (Professor of Refugee Law, School of Law, University of Warwick). The discussion was moderated by Mohammed Alrmizan (Associate Fellow, King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies).
