On Wednesday April 20, 2022, the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) convened a public lecture entitled: "Mamluk Cairo: A Capital Under Construction" by Dr. Omniya Abdel Barr (Architect, Victoria and Albert Museum, London), one of a series of lectures held by the Center as part of the activities of the #Asfār Exhibition.
One of the manuscripts of the Third Chapter of the Exhibition is a Mamluk Qurʾan endowed in the 8/14th C. by Sitt Miska to the Cairene mosque whose construction she patronised. Sitt Miska was a freed female slave and served as ursemaid of Sultan al-Nāṣir Muḥammad ibn Qalāwūn.
