On Sunday, May 28, and Monday, May 29, 2023, the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) and Berghof Foundation co-convened an online discussion entitled "Next Steps for Sustainable Peace in Yemen.”

The event was chaired by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the KFCRIS, HRH Prince Turki AlFaisal, and HE Executive Director of Berghof Foundation, Andrew Gilmour, as well as HE Special Envoy of Sweden to Yemen, Ambassador Peter Semneby.

A number of prominent figures participated in the event: HE Speaker of the Shura Council of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Yemen, Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak, HE Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, HE Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed bin Saeed Al Jaber, HE Former Saudi Ambassador to the UN, Abdallah Al-Mouallimi, HE Deputy Head of Mission at the Office of the Special Envoy for Yemen, Muin Shreim, and HE Ambassador of EU to Yemen, Gabriel Munuera Vinals.

     

The Assistant Secretary-General for Scientific Affairs at KFCRIS, Dr. Abdullah Hamidaddin delivered the opening speech, and Dr. Oliver Wils, Head of Department, MENA & Yemen at Berghof Foundation, moderated the discussion on the second day.
