HRH Deputy Governor of Riyadh province inaugurated the Exhibition “Asfār”
On Sunday, February 13, 2022, HRH Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Riyadh province inaugurated the Exhibition “Asfār: Treasures of King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies” in the presence of HRH Prince Turki AlFaisal, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies at Al-Faisal Museum for Arab-Islamic Art in Riyadh. The ceremony was also attended by a number of Highnesses and Excellencies as well as groups of politicians, intellectuals, and media representatives.
HRH Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz expressed his delight at the rare items on display, the various sections of which he viewed in the course of inaugurating the exhibition. His Highness emphasized the importance of preserving Arabo-Islamic heritage and recognized the value of the exhibition’s intellectual and cultural contribution, with its unique collection of manuscripts and other items.
His Highness also praised the intellectual and cultural efforts the King Faisal Center has made towards the preservation of Arab-Islamic heritage and the care it has devoted to rare manuscripts, as well as praising the Center’s promotion of knowledge and intercultural exchange between Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the world. His Highness confirmed that the efforts of the King Faisal Center are part of the broader context of continuous care that the Kingdom’s leadership lavishes on Arab-Islamic heritage, protecting and preserving it. This exhibition bolsters the efforts that the Kingdom has made in this respect. His Highness pointed out that the Center has reaped the fruit of more than forty years’ experience, placing it among the foremost intellectual and cultural centers known for their academic rigor. The Center has contributed positively to achieving the cultural dimensions of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
HRH Prince Turki AlFaisal expressed his thanks to HRH Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz for supporting and inaugurating the exhibition, noting that His Highness’s words about the Center and the exhibition reflect the continued commitment of the Kingdom‘s leadership to cultural projects. His remarks also speak to the Kingdom‘s future-oriented vision of highlighting its civilization and culture through acquainting people with Saudi heritage and history, and introducing them to the civilizations that have emerged there across the ages.
HRH Prince Turki AlFaisal commented that the Al-Faisal Museum of Arab-Islamic Art, established in 1983/1405AH, is comprised of rare items including rare and unicum manuscripts. His Highness explained that the exhibition aims to acquaint visitors with the most outstanding manuscripts and printed works owned by the Center, casting light on the oldest and rarest and highlighting their value. His Highness also emphasized how this exhibition contributes to the intellectual and cultural goals of the Center in preserving Arab-Islamic heritage, which is also part of the heritage of mankind. His Highness said that the Center helps to preserve the superlatively rich intellectual monuments and artifacts of Islamic civilization, including manuscripts and historical documents, making them available to researchers and specialists, spreading the wealth of these treasures and the knowledge and culture they contain. His Highness stated that the exhibition will be one of the cultural landmarks in Riyadh.
