KFCRIS organized an event  in celebration of World Camel Day

Date: June 23, 2025

On Monday, June 23, 2025, In celebration of World Camel Day, the Saudi Memory Unit at the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies organized a heritage-themed event for its staff. The event featured a traditional gathering with camel milk, dates, and maamoul, evoking the generosity and simplicity of desert life. The invitation featured a verse by poet Saad bin Jathlan: “Camels dignify the Arabs and bring them pride and stature, when money is scarce, camels remain rare and treasured.” A verse that captures how camels symbolize honor, status, and resilience in Arab heritage.

The team selected archival images from the Saudi Memory Unit showcasing Bedouin life and the cultural bond with camels. The design bridged tradition and modernity, offering a vivid, emotional reflection on heritage in a contemporary format. The Saudi Memory Unit continues to document oral history, folklore, and traditional culture from an anthropological lens—building a vibrant knowledge archive that preserves Saudi identity and opens a living window onto the heart of Arabian heritage.
