On Monday, November 4, 2024, the UNESCO Chair in Translating Cultures at the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies, with the support of the Saudi Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, participated in the Arabic Literature Seminar in Paris, which was held as part of the Arab Week at UNESCO. Professor Moneera Al-Ghadeer, Director of the UNESCO Chair in Translating Culture, introduced the Chair, outlining its conceptual framework, themes, languages, and objectives of enhancing research and intercultural dialogue. In her speech, she discussed the Chair’s translation and research projects, including the translation of the book The Cultural Turn in Translation Studies by Professor Wang Ning from Chinese into Arabic, and the translation of anthropological encyclopaedic texts from Arabic into English and Spanish. She also highlighted the chair's role in fostering international research collaboration with internationally recognized universities and organizations such as the University of Geneva, the University of Salamanca, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre, and the University of Bahrain, in addition to partnerships with three UNESCO chairs respectively in Egypt, Spain, and Mexico within UNESCO's University Twinning Programme. She emphasized that the outputs of the Chair will enhance the standing of Arab culture and scholarship and elevate its global presence.
