UNESCO Chair in Translating Cultures participated in Beijing International Book Fair

On Friday, June 21, 2024, the UNESCO Chair in Translating Cultures at King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies (KFCRIS) with the support of the Literature, Publishing and Translation Commission participated in the Beijing International Book Fair and held a lecture entitled “UNESCO Chair in Translating Cultures and Sino-Arab Cultural Encounters”. Dr. Mohammed Al-Sudairi (a member of the Translating Cultures Lab and a Lecturer at the Australian National University) introduced the UNESCO Chair’s themes, languages, and aims of fostering research and collaboration across cultures with an emphasis on the Global South. Prof. Wang Ning (Distinguished Professor at Beijing Institute of Technology and Shanghai Jiao Tong University) discussed Sino-Arab cultural relations, referring to his book “The Cultural Turn in Translation Studies,” which the Chair is currently translating into Arabic. The Chair's participation in the Beijing International Book Fair aligns with the initiatives of its 2024 themes: “Rethinking Translating Cultures” and “Translating Sino-Arab Cultural Encounters”.
